As Fawkes turned his gaze from the headmaster toward the big bay windows and
the lake in the distance, he began to ponder once again his destiny and what
would become of him once Albus went through with his plans for Harry Potter and
Lord Voldemort. Albus Dumbledore was anything but a nice master. In his early
years of wizardry, he found a phoenix on his worldly travels. The phoenix was
young and unbound to a wizard, yet old and wise enough to see what damage he
could cause to the wizarding world, knowingly or not. Fawkes was forcefully
bound to a young and power unchecked Albus Dumbledore. Over the years leading
up to Albus’ power grab, Fawkes witnessed may occasions in which Albus flaunted
his power, baring it for the entire world to see. Albus had created the need of
a savior to defeat Grindewald, just as he has with Tom Riddle years later.
When Albus was 40 years old, he met a young, charismatic, aspiring wizard named
Gellart Grindewald. At first, Albus was fooled by what appeared to be
Grindewald’s ideals and goals. Barely a couple months after Albus joined with
Gellart, he saw him for what he really was, a dark lord. Albus almost called
him out on it, but a new plan began to formulate in his mind. He would let
Gellart become a dark lord and at the height of his power, he would destroy
him. This would ensure that Albus would get the attention he deserved.
So Albus bid his time and waited for the time to come. Hours turned into days.
Days into months, months into years, and finally, years into decades. Gellart
came into the open. The wizarding world has nowhere to turn. Albus Dumbledore
quickly appeared on the scene, eager to prove himself. He quickly subdued and
defeated Gellart. The wizarding world now knew the name of Albus Dumbledore.
His name quickly became a household one. The minister of magic position was
offered to him. But in order to maintain his perfect, non-political appearance,
he turned down the job. His actions only drove him higher in the eyes of the
wizarding world.
A couple of years after, fifteen to be exact, after his famous defeat of
Gellart Grindewald, greatest dark Lord to date, people began to forget the name
of Albus Dumbledore. He had to do something, and fast. There was a young boy
named Tom Riddle that had just come to Hogwarts. When Albus went to visit tom
Riddle in the orphanage where he had grown up, he saw the potential to groom
another Dark Lord. And where would the wizarding world turn? To Albus
Dumbledore again.
Albus always made Tom go back to the orphanage every summer. This would ensure
that he never had a happy childhood. No happy childhood makes not a happy
adult. Tom was reminded every day of what he was and where he came from.
Because of the abuse he suffered at the orphanage, he developed a quick hate
for muggles. Because he was part muggle, he hated himself all the more. He
began to plot against the muggles, with Albus’ help of course. As Albus saw
that after Tom graduated and grew more powerful, he knew he had ensured his
place as the top wizard in the wizarding world. Once again, everyone looked
toward Albus Dumbledore. He answered the call. He not-so-secretly formed an
organization known as the Order of the Phoenix. Albus had to ensure that his
organization worked, but not to the point of defeating Tom too easily. Albus
had to create one specific target for Tom. He also needed a spy to continue his
influence on Tom. Albus selected Severus for the role of spy and James and Lily
Potter for the role of enemy. It was too easy.
All Albus had to do now was sit back and watch as the drama played out before
his eyes. Tom went after the Potters like he knew he would. The Potters were
killed, and Tom fled, bodiless. Harry was left alive, a perfect innocent babe,
just like all the others had been. Albus was in the perfect position to
manipulate him to his heart’s desire. Albus’ one mistake was telling Fawkes
everything.
Fawkes shook his head to return to the present. He had seen too many hearts
torn. Too many feelings hurt. It was time to return everything to the way it
should be. Fawkes hooted towards Albus.
“Oh, you want to go flying, don’t you?” Albus turned towards Fawkes and asked.
Fawkes nodded and Albus continued, “Well, if you fancy going for a fly, why
don’t you stop by Harry and see how he’s doing?” Albus crossed over to the
window and unlocked it. When Fawkes nodded, Albus opened the window and Fawkes
flew off.
It was finally time to tell Harry all that had gone on in that little office,
and all because one man became a little too power hungry.
